Carla is a veteran science teacher of 28 years. She still loves teaching and being creative in the classroom. She has a special interest in color blindness. Her book, “Feather and the Lonesome Firefly,” was specifically designed to be colorblind inclusive, and was recognized by the Colorblind Association. All of her books use Andika font, which is dyslexia friendly and is a nice font for all young readers. She feels that anything that can encourage a child to read is a wonderful thing!
She is an animal photographer and loves being outdoors. She loves animals, especially horses and golden retrievers. Her past golden retriever, Feather, is the main character for her first books, and the inspiration for Feather’s Gift. Feather’s Gift proudly supports horse rescue.
Carla's first Christian children's books, "The Pony Who Said His Prayers," and the sequel, "The Journey of Kindness," are the first in the Praying Pony series. She plans to add many more!
Carla feels that many children connect with animals very well, sometimes even more so than they do with people. This is especially true for children who have been hurt by people. Animals offer devotion and unconditional love, and a safe place for little hearts. This new book is a heartfelt attempt to encourage children to look for God, and maybe even create their own special prayer.
Carla's mission is to bring children to God through their love of animals.
